Kickboxing
Kickboxing was developed in America in the 1970's because competitors in Karate tournaments could not find any full contact competitions, as most tournaments were semi-contact or
no contact events. Kickboxing was developed to be a sport with the competitors wearing gloves and foot pads and fighting in a ring like boxing.
Kickboxing only incorporates the use of hand and foot strikes making it one of the more simplistic arts to learn yet it is by no means less effective than other styles.

Why the kickboxing craze?
According to a recent study by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), cardio-kickboxing participants can expect to burn an average of 350 to 450 calories per hour and
maintain a heart rate at 75 to 85 percent of maximum, well within the recommended 65 to 85 percent range for aerobic exercise. An hour-long session is roughly equivalent to an
hour of brisk walking or light jogging.
