Biography

In 1989 at the age of four, Gago Drago moved from Armenia to the Netherlands together with his father. At the age of 14 he started training kickboxing at Gym Alkmaar. Soon he proved that he had huge potential for the fighting game.

In the mean time Gago Aroetjunjan, whose name is completely replaced by "Gago Drago", has defeated many big names in the Dutch and Belgian kickboxing world. Remarkable fact: because of visa-issues he wasn't allowed to travel out of the Benelux. In 2005 he finally got permission to travel as a regular Dutch citizen.

Drago has an agressive style, always moving forward and pressuring his opponent. His best weapons are his punch combinations and his unpredictable kicks, as well as his tenacity and grit.

On his fighting record he has wins over Mohamed Ouali, Chris van Venrooij (twice), Stephan Veselic (twice), Ali Gunyar (twice), Amir Zeyada, Imro Main, Jerry Morris, Marco Pique and Murat Direcki.

He lost against William Diender and Hutnik Spejbl and drew against Aalviar Lima. In the period of 2002 since february 2006 he has not been beaten. Faldir Chahbari was the fighter who stopped his winning streak during a WFCA-event in Holland on february 5th.

On april 6th Drago fought his first fight for K-1 MAX. In the final eliminations he was up against Danish Ole Laursen. After a nervous start Drago gave his opponent a standing 8-count in the second round. After three rounds Drago took the decision and placed himself among the topfighters in the MAX division.

On the 13th of may he fought a superfight against Ray Staring at the K-1 World Grand Prix in Amsterdam. He lost the fight on points.

Almost two months later on the 30th of june Drago fought his first K1-MAX event. In the first round he landed a knee on 2002 winner Albert Kraus and gave him an eight-count. That was enough to earn the point-victory and advance to the semi-finals against Buakaw Por. Pramuk. Knocked down in the second round, Buakaw was too strong that night for the young debutant.
