| One of the special participants in the Rehoboth Beach Marathon Saturday, Nov. 22, was Donald Arthur. On Aug. 2, 1996, Arthur’s life was saved by the precious gift of a heart transplant. In an effort to raise awareness of the tremendous need for organ and tissue donors, Arthur has committed himself to run a marathon in all 50 states. With the completion of the Rehoboth Beach Marathon he has now completed 35 marathons in 25 states. As an honorary member of the Rotary Club of the Bronx in New York, he exemplifies the Rotary principle of “Service Above Self” through his representation of the First Giving Campaign. For more information regarding Arthur’s progress visit www.firstgiving.com/12in2008. During his visit Arthur, left, exchanged rotary club flags with Jim Holdridge, president of the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club. |
