Sussex County paramedics (l-r) Jill Wix, Holly Donovan and Stuart Hensley train on a mannequin as they prepare for an international competition in Israel. The Sussex team is the only team representing the United States in the 12-country competition, said Glenn Luedtke, Sussex County EMS director. Sussex paramedics are not strangers to competition. A team that included two of the current members, Donovan and Hensley, has competed in the prestigious Journal of Emergency Services competitions every year since 2005, winning a gold medal in 2005 and a silver medal in 2006.

Webster Furniture, which has been in business in Rehoboth Beach since 1948, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Friday, Aug. 29. Attorney Amy Brown of the Wilmington firm Werb and Sullivan said the bankruptcy was a result of the nation’s slumping housing market. Former owner Don Webster said he did not know what happened at the store.
